Drinks Chest

Speke Hall ice chests

This project was inspired by a visit to a great property near Liverpool called Speke Hall. They used a wooden ice chest to store ice that was collected from Norway, transported to the UK and stored in the ice silo. From there it was placed in this zinc lined chest as needed where it would stay frozen for up to two months.

Another chest we found, used to keep the party juice cold

Over the years there have been many attempts to make the old ice box look more attractive and new materials like polystyrene and plastics provide great insulation but lack the natural beauty of wood. This project combines both the new materials with an attractive outer casing to create a beautiful and functional piece of deck furniture that you'll be able to enjoy for many years to come.
